Homeschooling 101

Many people have asked how school was going for us so I thought I would share what our days consist of. We start school at 9:00~ we are using Abeka DVD's and each of the girls has a desk and DVD player in their rooms. Morgan hangs out in her bouncy seat until we get things going, I pretty much bring her room to room with me ( I don't know what we will do when she gets mobile.) Micah loves Peter pan so he will sit and watch it until Mackenzie is through with school. Mackenzie is usually done in 2 hours so then the two of them go play together, and yes he watches Peter Pan everyday~ he loves it that much! Maddy takes a lot longer to do school, so we usually have lunch at noon and then she gets to play until Micah goes down for his nap at 1:30 and then she finishes school. Nap time is my favorite time of day, because sadly this is when I get my shower. The girls pretty much want me watching there every move so school is my life until the afternoon. I took a few pictures of the kids during a normal school day and you will be able to see why I have to be right there with them, one kid just can't be still. I love Peter Pan!

Mackenzie

She was supposed to be cleaning her room, when I didn't hear anything for awhile I went to check on her and she was sound asleep. Notice the jammies are on under her dress. She eventually woke up and it took a long time to clean the mess.

FROGS

Micah loves to go outside and catch the frogs that we seem to have in abundance. He had a really big one but it got away before I could get a picture. Where did he go?
There he goes..... needless to say this frog did not survive the many drops and was dead the next morning.

Thumb Sucker

It's been hard to blog lately with homeschooling and just having all the kids underfoot, but I thought I would show how big Morgan has gotten. She has tons of rolls, but she is a cutie~ she is starting to "talk" to us and loves to smile. She also has a new trick ~ Sucking her thumb! She was so tired, but worked very hard to get her thumb.

Dr. Visits

I took all the kids to the Dr. today for their well-baby/child visits. We also started homeschooling today. School went well~ Mackenzie was a little bored, as she said, "I all ready know all this stuff." Hopefully it will get a little harder for her so she stays interested. Here are pictures of the kids and there statistics. (For Nana's benefit)

Madeline age 7 is 51 in. tall and weighs 56 pounds
Mackenzie is 5 years old and is 44 in. tall and weighs 44 pounds. Micah is age 2~36 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds.
Morgan is 9 weeks old as is a PIG!!! She weighs 13.9 pounds and is only 22 inches!

We are happy to announce....................

that Mackenzie asked Jesus into her heart last night! Now we just have two more kids to go~ we also need to work on the idea of baptism with both the girls.

Swinging High

Micah loved the tire swing, I didn't get a picture of the girls, but there Goppy would swing them so high I couldn't watch~ I was certain someone was going to get hurt. Whee~ higher Daddy

Happy Birthday

Happy 2nd Birthday to Micah~ we love you buddy!
And a Happy belated post to Maddy who was 7 on Friday!

We are still on vacation.....

but I thought I would share a few things. First Micah decided to give up his paci on all his own! It made me very sad, even though I knew it was time. But after I had bought him a new one he took one look at it and said no Mom, and he hasn't had it since, it's been about 2 weeks now. Then while we were at my mom's I decided we should get a family picture since the last family picture we only had 2 kids. Do you know how hard it is trying to coordinate six people! We decided to go with brown and pink for the colors, well I couldn't find the girls shirts in pink so we ended up with a teal blue and brown. The day of the picture I realized that my shirt had a hole in it where they put the tag so I had to return it and get a new one. Five minutes before we were to leave Morgan threw up on her shirt~ we did a quick wash and had it air dry all the way to the photo studio. We arrived early at the photo studio and just as the lady got ready to call us, Ronnie looked down and Micah had peed threw his shorts! My mom was able to find him another pair ( we were in Kmart at Olan mills). We then sat down for one shot of all of us together before the baby needed to eat. So while I fed here we got pictures of all the kids. As we got ready to take another family shot Morgan threw up and the picture lady caught it! It was definitely an experience! We ended up with some really nice photos which I will post when they get here. We will be gone another week and then I will post pictures of our vacation!

One Month Old

Saturday Morgan was one month old. She went to the Dr. for her check-up today ( that's why she is grumpy). She is a healthy 9 pounds 15 oz. and is 21 inches long. She definitely likes to eat!

Early birthday present

Micah loves trains, and since his 2nd birthday is coming up we decided to get it a little early. I will say the table was easier to put together than the train track was! Choo-Choo- the main engine is battery operated which makes him a little mad, but he loves it.

My little Man

Since Madeline and Mackenzie are in Pennsylvania for the summer Micah is getting very spoiled. He decided to have his breakfast in front of the T.V. Mr. Cool~ Daddy put gel in his hair and he thought it was so neat. Just call him mini Ronnie!

He does love his sister! Micah was trying to be helpful and hold Morgan, he got bored with her after a minute and was trying to get away from her. Nana and Goppy with all the Spivey kids- notice Micah~ he has a scowl in most pictures that involve Morgan.
